Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life so you naturally will want to look your best. You have your dress, the flowers and the caterer are there, the preacher is on his way and now it's time for your make up. But what about your mom? Does she not need to look radiant as well?
In this free video series, our expert Connie Worley will teach you how to pick out a dress for the bride's mother. She will talk about colors, length, formality, shopping, who to shop with, revealing dresses, dress weight, sleeves, sizes, variety, the waist, and proportion. She will also talk about shoes and dress shoes before offering some tips and advice on wedding dress accessories.
"In our twenty years with working with brides and their families, I think one of the most frustrating members of that group is the Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom. They have a very tough job in finding a gown that they feel beautiful in. So we would like to spend a few minutes with you and help you find out some key elements of selecting that gown and some rules of etiquette that might help you make it a better situation for you and your daughter, if you're the Mother of the Bride. First of all, let me address you as Mother of the Bride because you are the leader in this situation. You should select your gown first. You set the pace, you set the formality, and you decide what color you would like to wear along with your daughter, probably, who will have some input. But it's up to you to take the leadership and go ahead and select your gown or at least have an idea of what you want and then let the Mother of the Groom know what your thoughts are and what your decisions are. Then she can go and make her decisions and find a gown that's appropriate for her. I can't tell you how many times a Mother of the Groom comes in frustrated three or four weeks before a wedding, that the Mother of the Bride has not given her information to know what to select or what the formality of the wedding might be."
