"BRIAN FIELDS: Hey, how's it going? I'm Brian Fields here at the Aussie Island in Wilmington, North Carolina. We're here on behalf of Expert Village. I'm here to talk to you about picking out a surfboard and what you can do to help take care of it in the meantime. And now, we're going to talk about the sun and your surfboard. Just like your skin, the sun is not good for it. Pretty much anytime, anywhere, you want to keep your board out of the sun. Right here we have a brand new board, notice how white and clean it is. Right here, we have a board that obviously somebody left out in the sun way too long too many times. This board at one time looked like this but because of the sun, you see the brown tints left with it. Also, if you get a crack in your board and water gets inside, if you leave it out in the sun, it's going to dry rot things like that. The sun is just basically going to eat your board away the same way it would eat your skin away. It's going to cause it to darken. It's going to cause things to crack and the way the foam would dry inside after the water's been on this, it's going to change that. All in all, sun is really, really bad for your board. Even keeping it on the car, the heat from the sun it's another thing. It's very bad for your board. Pretty much on now you want to keep - do everything you can to keep your board out of the sun as much as possible. Even though it's made for a sport that it's going to constantly be on the sun."
