"Hi! My name is Amelia Tallman and today I’m showing you how to make a hand tied bouquet in the pageant style. We’re going to do this today with roses because that’s the flowers we have here. The pageant style is actually a gorgeous arrangement to do with flowers such as a calla lily that has really striking stems, because you leave a lot of the stem on. But I have here before me a variety of roses that I’ve taken the thorns off of and the guarder petals and kind of cleaned up the lower greenery, so we’re just going to begin. The nice thing about a hand tied bouquet is that you can move it around if you feel like you get to a point that you’re not happy with what you’ve got. There’s no reason you can’t take a step back and undo it, because things are held in your hand until you’re pretty much done, so it does take some tricks with the hand to hold everything. We generally want to first of all, look through your flowers. Look for something that’s kind of small to start off the bouquet with. It’s kind of going to be the point at the top. So I think I’m going to use this one and then build down from there. Since I’m using a variety of colors, you want to be sure to change your colors as you go. With a bridal bouquet, you generally don’t use very much in the way of greenery because brides are usually, it’s the day to go all out and be extra luxurious, so use a lot of flowers and not so much greenery. I’m not planning to use any greenery in this arrangement aside from what’s naturally on the flowers themselves. This is how we’ll begin. You just want to move down changing colors as you go. We’re generally building sort of a triangular shape here as we go with this arrangement. You want all the flowers to be pretty much all pressed up against each other, so it’s just a richer ray of flowers looking out to you. So once you get your flowers all set in and you’re happy with them, you’ll want to take a piece of wire and wrap it. We’ll do that in the next clip."
