Hiring an Effective Health Club Staff

"I am Ivan Madar. I am here on behalf of Expert Village. First would be the staff. The staff of any club really is the core of your operation. You can have the greatest facilities in the world. If you don't have the staff and you don't have the programs, you don't have a club. So how do we go about having a staff that's conducive to a good and effective club and how do you manage that staff? First you have a choice. You can have your full time staff, your part time staff or you can have independent contractors. The staff could be your employees or could be independent contractors. I prefer to have staff as employees. First of all is that you can provide a full time opportunity for them. Secondly, they are committed to you and you can use them as a resource and because they are with you predominantly full time. Contractors are very important in the operation of any club and spa, but should be supplementing your full time staff. Longevity of the staff is the second area that is extremely important because that establishes the proper and effective management."
