One of the main things about water skiing is it needs to be as safe as possible, you should always wear a life vest there are many types of life vest, for example I have a non approve life vest which is pretty good once you know how to water ski because it’s really thin, it’ll give you a lot of mobility, but it wont protect you most, actually this is non approved by the U.S. Coast Guard but if you have someone watching you all the time it’s good cause you can have a lot of mobility but I don’t recommend it if it’s your first time skiing. Here we have an U.S. Coast Guard approved life vest which is a little bit bigger where you would have more flotation and if it’s your first time skiing you will feel a lot more comfortable. I always recommend tightening so you will feel more secure."
