Tips & Warnings:

  • You do not need to use a Search bar unless you do _not_ know the address of the site you want to visit
  • If you know the address you wish to visit, use the address bar
  • Many people with trouble finding sites on the Internet are mistakenly using a search bar instead of the address bar
  • You can send this tutorial to a friend who has trouble getting to sites
  • If you're using a bar that has the word "search" inside the bar, to the left of the bar, or in a button next to the bar, then you are not using the address bar
  • The bar may say Google or Yahoo or MSN or Live Search - these are search bars, and not address bars
Step1
Address Bar In browser software such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, find the Address Bar. This bar might say Address or Address Bar, and will probably be the bar on the top-left of the window. In Internet Explorer 7, the bar does not have a name.
The bar does *not* have the word "search" inside or to the left of the bar. Watch the video with this article closely to see which bar is the Address Bar.
Step2
Delete everything currently on the address bar, and then enter the Web site address you wish to visit. It is not necessary to enter http://

Enter an address (also known as a domain name, URL, or Web site address), and then press Enter or click Go/Refresh. Most addresses look like one of these:
address.com or www.address.com
Use the correct domain name instead of address.com
Step3
You should be add the Web site you want.

on 6/11/2008 Glad you enjoyed it. I used to work help desk and 95% of the time, when people can't get to a site, it's because they're using a search engine instead of the address bar!
