Pentatonic Variations on Bass Guitar

"Hi! I am Carl Shepard with expertvillage.com. I am talking about advanced bass techniques. And here I just want to show you how you can position your Pentatonic scale a couple of different ways, if your are doing the E Pentatonic scale you can do your open strings here and you could also use your fretting here. What I am doing is going E string, open string, third fret of that string, fifth fret, seventh fret, fifth fret of the A, seventh fret of the A, fifth fret of the D, seventh fret of the D, we go up to the ninth fret of D and then we head to seventh fret of the G and ninth fret of D. You could also start your basic Pentatonic scale here on the seventh fret of A to give you the E, and then that will allow you to move up to this position which starts on the twelfth fret of the E string and which is very close to what we play on the open strings down here. Since this is the midpoint of your guitar that will make perfect sense. Basically playing the same notes down here except up here it’s an octave higher."
