"Hi! I am Carl Shepard with expertvillage.com here talking about different bass techniques. A bass technique that is not really used very often is bass chords. As in guitar you can use a bar chord to make a bass chord and instead of playing all the notes together, you can use your fingers to play each note separately. So if your guitar player is playing G major chord for instance, and you have enough time to give four notes in that you can play the third fret of E, fifth fret of A, fifth fret of D, fourth fret of G to give you a G major chord. If you wanted to play a G minor chord you would flat this note here to give you a minor sound and you can do that pretty much anywhere on the E string, it is going to be a little bit harder to do that on the A string, if you want to you could use, say you want to do an E major, you could use the seventh fret here, sixth fret here and a fourth fret here, so seventh fret of the E, or E note on the seventh fret of A, a sixth fret of D and also the fourth fret of G to give you an E major, so if you flat that third, it will give you E minor as well."
