"I am Carl Shepard, professional bass instructor here talking about different techniques on the bass. There is a definite technique that is not really used very often and it is kind of overlooked for bass players and that is open strings and chords. So if you are going to do a major chord you could use your open string and in the 11th fret of the string above that. It will give you a major chord, okay. This will be the D and G so open string D, a 11th fret G to give you that, there will be your D major chord. Here we have an A major chord, open string A 11th fret D string, open string E, 11th fret A, E major. There are a lot of different bass players who do this but typically it is a technique that is not used very often. "

bad habits as well from never taking a lesson. I have huge gaps of knowledge that you have helped me with.
