"Hi! I am Carl Shepard with expertvillage.com. We are talking about some basic bass techniques here. One thing you are going to want to utilize in your bass playing is the metronome; that is what I have here on my lap. It is already clicking away at 100 beats per minute and what I want to do is try and play a bass line that is going to match up this tempo, okay. This is a great exercise to help you groove and help you get tight with maybe a drummer at some point, okay and that is very important as a bass player. So right now I am just going to play a little blues bass line to go with this. Now the whole time if you are watching the red light, it was kind of in rhythm with me, so that is something you want to keep in mind and also just to count along with it, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four to help you keep time in your head and also with the bass, so this is a great tool to use.
