on 3/5/2009 Emily, you need to take a class on how to give instructions to people that don't know how to fold at all. And the camera person needs to keep on what you are doing, not your face. We cannot see when he is showing your face so the video doesn't do any good. The quality of the video is very blurry and when you enlarge the video, it is even worse. You need an overhead shot where your hands are not blocking what you are doing. I went to another lady and she already had started folding before she started instructing so she was not any count either. Isn't there anyone out there that can teach origami and show how to do it without blocking what they are doing or showing their face when they are folding? You call it a mountain fold, the other lady called it a frog face. You are no expert.

on 8/2/2008 Emily, I used this video to teach my class today. It is so awesome to find an expert on the web to assist me in teaching others to love origami. To improve this video, if you hold up the star from time to time so we can see on which side you are folding. The top has open points the bottom of the iris does not.

on 8/2/2008 Ugh you could atleast explain it a bit better, the quality is low wich dosnt help.

And why does the camera often go up towards your face then move down to the origami? Its not like we want to see anything other than the origami itself so we can watch and learn more fromw hat your are actually doig wince you arnt explaining it very well in the first place!

on 8/2/2008 It is hard to tell how you are folding this from a novices point of view. Remember we are looking at this opposite from how you are folding. Need to have the camera behind you not in front of you will help to see what you are doing. If a person has never done this before it is hard to figure out what you are talking about.

Video Transcript

"My name is Emily, I’m going to show you how to build an origami iris. First, fold in half. Once more. Make sure the open end is on this side, and bring this point to the bottom corner and fold this line outward- make a square. Do the same thing. Take this corner, match it with this one. Make sure this become a mountain fold, like so- making a square. Make the open points face away from you. Take the corner, make another mountain fold on the center line. Flatten. Do the same for all four edges. Take each corner and fold towards the center. Now for each side that you folded inward, you’re going to open and pull, like so. Next side. And fold each side upwards. Fold in half to the blank side. Crease like so. Do the same for all four unfolded sides. And the last one. Open each side to the blank unfolded side, take the corner, and fold to the inner crease. Repeat on all the sides. Take the open end, fold down to where it stops. Repeat on the opposite side. Open like this. Do the same. And that is the last step in the origami iris."
