"Hi! I’m Jim McKelvey with Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis. You can check us out on the web at www.stlglass.com. Today, we’re going to learn about glassblowing for expertvillage.com. So here we are at the break-off station, and here’s my piece. Now, the first thing we want to do is chill that punty down. I have a knife here with a little bit of water in on, and I’m going to chill is by putting just a tiny bit of pressure on the tip of the punty. Now, what I’m not doing is, I’m not putting it on like this, because that can allow water to fall on the piece. I want to do it in a horizontal position like this. Chill it with the punty. The last move is to knock it behind my hand with a piece of wood, and there is comes. If you have a nice oxy torch, you can polish that punty mark out to that no one ever even sees it."
