How to Cut & Bend Metal Roofing

"I'm Tom Shean and today on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to install a metal roof. Place the panel faced up on the shear so the desired piece rests on the body of the shear. As you're cutting over hills in valleys diagonally, the shear may tend to wonder and the panel must be adjusted during cutting to maintain a straight line. Place the cut piece on the shake break on the short side with the bend line at the edge of the brick. Depress the foot pedal to clamp and hold, then lift or lower the panel manually to give the required up or down turn. As you're bending across the profiles the panel will accordion slightly when bent. Compensate for this when measuring the panel. Generally the top course of panels must be cut and bent up. Remember to measure first, bend, then cut. If a panel is cut across the width first, it will want to accordion making bending impossible. Some of the extortion will appear but will work its way out as you fasten the panel in place. Remember again to bend, then cut otherwise this panel will accordion. Place the panel on the long break side of the shake break with a bend point to the front edge of the upper dye. Apply pressure to the foot pedal while leveraging the break arm with the two handles. Fasten the front of the panel in normal fashion first and then fasten the back, reverse pitch bends are opposite to the above."
