" Hi! I’m William Myers from Austin Subaru for Expert Village and I’m going to show you the underside of your Subaru. Okay now we’re going to talk about your axle boots, this is an inner axle boot, this is an outer axle boot and their purpose is to keep grease inside the joints your inner and outer joints and there are moving parts in there and these moving parts need to be lubricated. So this boot keeps the grease in and keeps the dirt out but over time they wear out they will break, you can hit wire on the road something can cut them, something can happen to them but if an axle boot breaks you want to take care of it because replacing the actual boot is relatively inexpensive. Once it damages the joint itself then it’s a more costly repair."
