"Hi! I’m William Myers from Austin Subaru for Expert Village. Okay more about tires, now remember when I was showing you this tire and right there I can see the top of Lincoln’s head but right there is a wear bar indicator and if I put it off that wear bar indicator I can see not the top of his head anymore, so there is life left in these tires but there’s a wear bar here and we want to talk about wear bars. As you saw before when I put the penny in there you can almost see the top of Abraham Lincoln’s head so you know this tire is not wore out yet but its got some life in it and it’s going to have to be replaced soon. Now I’ve got a tire right here that I can show you it’s a bit different and it can show the wear bars on the tire and all tires have wear bars and a wear bar is when it starts to show you know the tires were out. But here let me show you with a penny on this tire…see how you can see all of Abraham Lincoln’s head but if you look real close on a tire and the tread groves you’ll see these little rubber bars when they show that means your tires wore out. A wear bar’s there so you can actually see its level with a tread it’s time to replace your tires, I mean a wear bar is always there but the treads are high enough that they’re not leveled with the tread once they become leveled with the tread it’s time to replace the tire, that’s all a wear bar is there for is when that wear bar shows it’s telling you, you need to replace your tire."
