"Hi! I’m William Myers from Austin Subaru for Expert Village. Okay today I’m going to show you how to jump start a car and we’re going to show you how to jump start a car safely. You’re going to need two cars of course the car with the dead battery and a car with a good battery. I’m going to have my assistant Tory hold these two jumper cables and keep them apart, we’re going to show you how to hook up a battery positive first always negative last. Come over to the car that’s going to be jump started, keep your two leads apart do not touch them they will spark, that battery needs to be serviced. First battery’s already hook up remember positive first, negative last alright and that ones on there. Now that we’ve got our jumper cables hooked up we’re going to start the good car and we’re going to charge this battery for about 5 minutes okay…now we’re going to let this charging system this alternator charge that battery to get some juice in that battery before we try to jump it off and so after we’ve charged that battery for a while were then going to shut this car off and then start the car that needs to be jumped. We’re never going to jump start a car with our car running okay, alright now that we let this car charge that battery we’re now going to start the car with the dead battery. Tory will you please start the car, that’s how you jump start a car now remember never jump start a car with the other car running, you can damage electrical components when that high amperage starter kicks off. Okay now that the car is started we want to remove the jumper cables, now remember move the negative first and the positive last and you’ll have now successfully jump started a vehicle."
