"So now I'm going to throw my front wheel back on. And remember, I still have the caliper loose on the adapter, and that's going to allow me to align the caliper so I have the best braking without drag and other junk like that. Got the brake lined up in the caliper and I'm pulling it up, sticking my axle through, closing up my axle, and now it's time to tighten up the brake caliper. So this is the direction that the wheel rolls in, so I'm going to rotate the wheel forward and then grab the brake lever. And as the brake lever is pulled, so that the caliper and rotor remain the same spot, I'm going to evenly tighten up these adapter bolts. And this goes for replacing pads and aligning pads on pretty much any brake system. What you want to do is you want to have things slightly loose on the adapter, and then you pull the brake lever and tighten everything up. Sometimes you have to use shims to move your adapter in, and you'll have a different shim top and bottom, depending on how parallel all your surfaces are. But with the Avid system, that's all built in with these conical washers. So there we go. Got a little bit of drag, but that's actually because my brake rotor has a hop in it because I hit things. But that's replacing the brake pads on your mountain bike disc brakes."
