"Another great variation for the tree pose that you can do with your partner is to do Hasta Padanghustasana where you take your hand to your big toe and extend your leg out to the side. Gina is going to help me demonstrate this for you. We're just going to come in to the regular tree pose. We're going to come in towards each other and this time we're going to use it as a tree hugger so we are going to take our arms around our waist. We're going to take the outside of our foot and come up to the ball of the foot and then take our leg out to the side, this is a hip opener. So you want to make sure that when you take your leg out to the side you don't take it so far that your opposite hip comes forward. You want to keep your hips nice and square, always hip girdle underneath the shoulder girdle, moving your feet up to wherever is comfortable for you. This would be a perfect tree. You could stay right there or you could bring it up to any level. Just don't press into your knee. Then just reach your arm out to the side for the moment Gina. Now we are going to take our two peace fingers and grab our big toe and then we are going to extend our leg out to the side, taking care not to knock your partner over. Hug them in nice and tight, good. Then slowly bending the knee back into your tree, reach your arm up, bringing the knee back into center and then lowering it down. "
