Summary: Learn how to prepare to practice the electric guitar in this free video music lesson.
"Hi, I'm Mike Lais. On behalf of Expert Village today we are going to be talking about getting familiar with the guitar. So what do we do to get started before we practice the guitar, there are a few things. One; you want to make sure that your fingernails are nice and trimmed. It's important for that because then when you are starting to play some notes on your guitar. You are going to get a better sound and you're going to be able to feel more comfortable around it. Your nails are not going to get in your way, just like that. You also want to remember that playing the guitar is muscle memory, it is not like cramming for an exam. You have to be able to put it in your fingers as well as in your brain and in your heart so that you can just get everything. It's really going to take 15 minutes a day everyday as oppose to 8 hours one day a week. You are not going to get anywhere doing it that way, you have to do a little each day it's just remembering to do everything your doing. It's going to take a lot of patience, it's going to take a lot of time but if you have all that stuff ready you got yourself a comfortable environment and you got yourself really relaxed and really focused. You should be able to have a good time doing whatever it is that you are going to be learning and you will notice an improvement every couple of weeks. You'll be able to look back and see where you started and where you are now, that should encourage you to continue on playing before you know it you should be able doing solos."
