"Hi, I'm Mike Lais. On behalf of Expert Village today we are going to be talking about getting familiar with the guitar. There are 4 basic things that you're going to need in order to get started on playing the guitar. The first thing you'll need is the guitar itself. This one is one of my personal favorites, it's a Martin DC15 series. It's one of the higher end guitars which cost about $1500. Don't let that scare you because you can actually get started on playing the guitar for a lot less than that. Any of your local music stores should be able to help you in picking out a guitar. You should be able to stay at any price range that you really want to get. If you go from $200 all the way up to $8000, it really just depends on what level you are at and where you want to be. The next thing you are going to need is a guitar pick; this is a medium gage guitar pick. If you are going to be a beginner you're probably going to want something a little bit lighter than this. They are real cheap about 75 cents, I think. The other two things that you are going to need on playing the guitar is patience because it's going to be frustrating at first you are not going to sound like Jimmy Paige or Jimmy Hendrix, any of those guys right away. But you will be able to get your basic sound going relatively quickly and then the love for music, you got to have fun with what you are doing, right. That is the whole point of learning this stuff so it really should be an excellent way to get going."
