"The 1st note in the B flat major scale is B flat. This note is also called the pentatonic or the root of the scale because it is the 1st one. Here is B flat in the staff. Let's look how to play it on the flute. Here is B flat in the fingering chart. For the flute you play the 1st finger and the thumb in the left hand. In the right hand you play also the 1st finger and the pinkie key. Let's review the fingerings on the flute. You have 1st finger and thumb in the left hand and you have 1st finger and pinkie key in the right hand here is B flat again. This fingering is the same fingering for the B flat which is one octave above which is the note that you would end your scale on. This B flat is located up here. Looking at our scale we end at the top the same note. You will use the same fingerings for the low B flat and the top B flat. "
