"Now we have completed line H and in this case we have 5 allowances. We take this number and put it in box 5 and that complete line 5. Line 6 is any additional amount of any that you want withheld from your paycheck. In this case we are not going to withhold anything additional. We are now claiming to be exempt from withholding so we don't do anything on line 7. The next step is just to sign the W-4, dated and then return it to your employer and they would complete sections 8,9, and 10. That is all you have to do if you have one job. "
