"This is DJ Shy on Expert Village and I'm trying to show you a basic scratch and this basic scratch is called the Flare. Now the flare is a combination of two other scratches. First of all let me show you how to position your hands. The cross fader starts at the middle, you find the beginning of the song which is right here and simply it?s doing one movement and getting two sounds out of that and another backward and getting two sounds out of that. What I mean is by this, sorry. Now you can hear the two different sounds, but when you go forward and two different sounds when you go back. Let me show you what the cross fader does in slow motion, so again the beginning sound is right here and you go. So that's pretty much basically what a flare is. It's going two sounds forward and two sounds back and it's kind of difficult, so you got to keep on practicing with... over and over again with your left and with your right. I'm going to show you how to do an example of a flare in slow motion and here again is a cross fader and you?re going to try to get two different sounds going forward and back. So it's like this. Like that."
