"Hi everybody, I'm DJ Shy, here with Expert Village and i need to, before we can start going into scratching I have to explain to you how important it is to be on beat and in order to practice being on beat, there are a couple things that you would want to do at home or when you are in the car in order to get you up to par with being on beat. It sounds pretty easy, but some people might be a little off with their beat like with dancing and things like that. So in order to do that we got to practice and in order to practice, whenever you listen to a song I need you to practice being on beat by maybe clapping to it or snapping to it, both with your right hand and left hand. So whenever you hear a song on the radio just silently in your head practice being on beat like tap your fingers, snap, bob your head, just being on beat. That's the basis to scratching because when you scratch you want to be on beat and its very very very important to get your rhythm going."
