"Now there's a concept that often plays out in Omaha called blocking cards, or blockers. They can be found to come into play sometimes in Texas Hold 'Em, but you find them more often in Omaha. And what that is, is let's say that there is a flush draw on the board. You see we have a spade and two diamonds. And there's no other real connectivity. And I flop a set of kings. This is actually kind of a ratty hand, but let's say I was able to get into the pot lightly from the small blind. I flop a set of kings, and I bet into the pot, and then my opponent re-raises. So I know at this point he's got something, and looking at the board, I think that he has a flush draw. Well as a matter of fact, I'm going to show you, that this particular opponent does. He's got a pair of eights, and actually has a pair of sixes, but he's drawing on that ace six of diamonds. If he hits his flush, he'll have the nut flush. Now, I can still, though I don't really have a draw going, because I'd be drawing to a lower flush, I can still bet pretty good. I can see this through to the end, because, in addition to my set of kings, I have my blocking flush cards. If I didn't have these cards, then my opponent would be drawing to nine potential outs for his flush. Since I have these two, he's drawing to seven potential outs. So, he goes from having a thirty-six percent chance of hitting his hand to a twenty-eight percent chance of hitting his hand. That's how blockers work."
