"Let's look at one Omaha hand, to make sure we understand what the elements are. We're not going to do any betting, we're not going to be dealing any other hands. Let's pretend that we can play a game called Omaha Solitaire. It's first dealt with four down cards, not two like in Texas Hold 'Em. This is Omaha Hold 'Em. You get four down cards. Let's take a peak at these cards. The hand we have is, jack, nine, eight, three. The jack and the eight are suited. For now, we're going to hide those. Now this is the rest of the hand. It's five community cards. The way you deal a hold 'em community card hand, is you deal one card into the muck--it's going to be burned and not used--you deal the flop, turn the flop over, then you burn a card, there's the turn, burn a card there's the river, and you make your best five card hand using two--two--of your four down cards, and three of the cards on the board. In this case, the best hand is jacks and nines. We've got a jack nine from our hand--our down hand--got a jack and a nine on the board, and then we're going to use the ace on the board. So this is the three cards from the community cards, and the two cards from our hand, to give us jacks up. Jacks and nines."
