Step 1
. Both men and women need to do some weekly maintenance on this highly visible area. Women are cautioned to avoid going too thin or grooming them to be far apart. Fashion trends on brows change yearly from a fuller brow one year to a thinner brow the next. Avoid being trendy. Have a professional show you a brow look that matches your face shape and brow growth pattern. Men need to insure that they do not have the dreaded “uni-brow” and that brows are trimmed but not too groomed. Natural is the key.

Step 2
Brow guidelinesTo properly shape the female brow, first brush brows upward then trim any stray hairs with a brow or manicure scissor. When arching your brow, remember that the space between your eyebrows should be equal to the width of your eye, with the inner edge of the brow starting above the curl of the nostril. This is visualized by holding a pencil at the curl of your nostril straight up to the brow. Measure where the arch should end by holding the pencil at an angle from the nostril and extend it to the edge of your eye.

Step 3
Next, determine where the highest part of the arch should be by holding the pencil connecting the nostril to the outer edge of the iris as you are looking straight ahead. The high point of the arch should match the edge of the iris.

Step 4
Men can tweeze or use a razor to remove excess hair from the middle of the brows. The width between brows should be slightly smaller than the width of an eye. Brush brows up to trim any long hairs then gently tweeze stray hair below the brow being careful not to over-tweeze or look “done.” Brow gel works very well for men to keep brows tame. The gel is clear so no one will know it is there.
