How to Find Outstanding Balances in a Checkbook

When you're finished checking off the matching transactions from your bank statements with those items in your check register you should be left with a transaction register that has items both with and without a check mark next to it. The check transactions are the ones that cleared the bank and the ones without a check have not cleared and are considered to be outstanding.
