"Hi, this is Dan on behalf of Expert Village and this is using mercy to get out of a speeding ticket. Now mercy is different than using pity to get out of a ticket. Mercy involves reasoning with the officer, telling him why you were speeding and why you think you should get away with it. You're hoping the officer sees why you were speeding and grants you some mercy in this case. The first thing you want to think about is what you are going to say to him. First of all you are going to admit guilt. You're going to say, "yes officer I was going over the speed limit." But what you're going to do in this situation is start talking right away. As soon as he gets up to your window, before he can even ask you for your license and registration you need to start into your speech. Maybe something along the lines of, "I'm really sorry officer I just really got to get to work, I'm 5 minutes away but I'm 10 minutes late, I really got to go." Or if there's something more dramatic you think of, "officer I really need to get to the airport, my family is going to leave to China and I just got to see them off, I'm not going to see them for months, officer I really just need to hurry up.""
