"Hi! I am Marianne, and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I will be discussing dining etiquette. The point that I will be making now is where to place your arms when you are seated for dining. It’s real important, when you are just resting your arms on the table, just to have the forearm on the table. You don’t want to put your elbows on the table, that is very improper manners. Also, when you go to take a glass of water you lift the glass all the way up and set it down. You don’t drink the water with your elbow seated on the table. When you are eating a sandwich, let’s say, it’s important that you bring the sandwich up to your mouth, not touching the table with your arms. You don’t bend down to bite the sandwich. Another point on proper arm placement, when you are actually eating, you pick up the fork, you bring the food item all the way up to your mouth. Some people do have a tendency to rest their elbow on the table, which are improper manners. It also will encourage you to slouch, and you don’t wish to do that. That is the proper way for arm placement when you are eating."
