"YUU ASAKURA: I'd like to explain to convert one sentence with--to make it two questions. Okay our first sentence is "kore wa ringo desu", you know this already right? Well ringo is in Japanese means apple, so kore means this so this is an apple. Now you can make two questions out of this. The first question is very simple, you are just asking is this an apple or not? And you can answer with yes or no. So we call it yes or no question here. Yes or no question here, we learned previously you can use ka at the end. So you go "kore wa ringo desu ka?" So you are asking is this an apple. So now you can use the same style with--further question, you are asking what it is, you don't know if it's apple or not so let's say--let's ask what is it? Kore, you--it's the same here kore wa. You substitute the word ringo apple with nani, we learned this word that means what and desu ka is the same. So look at this second sentence and third, the difference is just this word apple into what. So just practice with me. The first one "kore wa ringo desu", very good. The second question, yes or no question is "kore wa ringo desu ka", very good. Let's ask what is this, "kore wa nani desu ka", very good."
