"YUU ASAKURA: Let us make questions with "there is, there are." Basically, it is the same rule, you can put "ka" at the end and here you are able to use the other particle to make a subject which is "wa", it sounds very natural so can you use either "ga" or "wa." Okay let us ask "Is there an apple?" I use apple so you know the word already right? Yes it is "ringo." So you are going to the shop and you are looking for an apple. What do you ask? So apple is not living so you use this one right? So "Ringo wa arimasu ka?" Good. Okay you want to try "Is there a manager?" You are at the restaurant and you are a little bit mad and you want to talk to the manager. So manager is a person so you want to this "imasu" right? You can use the manager as manager so you say "Manager wa imasu ka?" or "Manager ga imasu ka?" You can use either. So the answer is this one is yes or no so you can also say "hai", "lie", and "hai imasu." You can use that, very simple."
