"YUU ASAKURA: So now, we're describing things that are not living. Let's learn these words. This is "kore." That is "are." So it is "sore." They, in this case, things that are not living is "sorera." Okay, let's practice with this. So let's say: This is a flower. Kore wa hana desu. Flower is hana, okay? And I want to say: That is a house. Is the word "are"? Yes. "Are wa ye desu." So when you want to point out something you have talked already, you can use the word "sore" or if it's plural you can use "sorera." Let's practice. Let's say, well, this is a pen; and pen is--in Japanese, it's "pen" so it's easy. So use the word "kore" and the word is "pen." How do you say it? Yes. Kore wa pen desu. That's correct."
