"YUU ASAKURA: In this lesson, you will learn how to say: I am American or Italian, French, wherever you're from. We will use the same sentence that we studied in the previous lesson. You use this one: Watashi wa desu to introduce yourself. You put your name right here. You can use this to say your nationality. Let's say, I want to say: I am an American. You say: Watashi wa American-jin desu. Now, you hear the world America-jin, right? America is, of course, it's America, and a jin is people. So we usually put the country's name and jin at the end to describe a nationality. So for example, if you are French, I would say: Watashi wa France-jin desu. And of course, I am Japanese, so I will say: Watashi wa Nihon-jin desu. So pick your nationality and you put jin at the end, and you try this sentence. Watashi wa Nihon-jin desu. It sounds great."
