" Hello my name is Hakeem Lavelle I am here on behalf of Expert Village to do a how to video on teaching a foreign language. Now we are talking about misconceptions. There are many misconceptions that can form when it comes to learning or teaching a foreign language. On the teachers part the misconception can be a scenario where you have a teacher that is teaching a foreign language which is foreign to the student but is domestic to the instructor. He may come from a country where he is trying to teach somebody his language. Well the problem occurs when he doesn't speak the students' language but he speaks his own language. Now a communication a barrier becomes there. Now he doesn't know how to express his point to the student. So now the communication comes away and now short cuts become invented so now he may let this student slide on pronunciation which is a big no no. Because, it could easily be remedied by just simply having the student repeat, repeat, repeat, and repeat but a communication has come into play. This person has lost confidence on the fact that the student can learn so now he thinks that a short cut more damage is done. On the students end: the greatest misconception on the student's end is I can't do it. His confidence isn't there or he thinks that it can't be done. He believes that he needs a short cut now. So he now starts to slack, he doesn't care about his pronunciation, and it may be essential to the meaning of words and certain goals are not met and the job either becomes underdone or incomplete where both parties quit. So misconceptions could play a big role in the teaching process so we need to be careful of them. Thank you!"
