"Hello my name is Hakeem Lavelle I am here on behalf of Expert Village to do a how to video on teaching a foreign language. Now we are at the portion where I get to tell my story. Well my story is quite simple with foreign languages or being multilingual. I was born into a family that was bilingual. In America my mother is from the Caribbean and she speak a broken French, Creole to be exact. So I grew up in a household where my mother spoke Creole and my entire environment spoke English. So I spoke two languages I spoke English but then I did speak creole. I actually mastered the language in ..without the accent and I mastered English. Now when it came to me going to school eventually when I got older I learned Spanish and being is how ...is divided from French. Since Spanish and French are related to Latin it was easy for me to learn and adapt and learn Spanish. Then later on in life became the portion where I had to learn Arabic. The first thought that I had in my mind is it is impossible. It is nothing like English, it is nothing like French, it is nothing like Spanish. See English, Spanish, and French all come from Latin so their root words are very similar to each other. Like you can say bicycle in English, bicicleta in Spanish and bicicle in French, sounds very similar they are very close together. Where as in Arabic the characters are different meaning the forms of the words are completely different, it goes right to left and there are sounds in it that don't exist in other languages that I was used to. So there was a mental block there when I first went in there, the first thing that I thought was that I can't do this. I learned one letter, hha, after that I was pumped and I was on my way rolling and now I teach other people. Thank you!"
