Video Transcript

"Hello I am Elena from the International Etiquette Center in Hollywood, Florida. Website is etiquettecenter.com. Let’s continue with our table manners, we talked about the continental style and we are now going to talk a little bit more about the American style. When you are eating American style you will cut your food, place your knife and switch. But if you are resting because you need to get to your bread or your drinks, you will leave your knife where it is already and you will just place your fork someplace on the plate far away from your knife. To demonstrate that you are still eating, you are just resting. Whenever you do whatever you wish which your drink or your bread, you would pick it up again, bring it to your left hand and pick up your knife with your right hand, and continue to cut, switch and eat. The American style is sometimes called zigzag because we keep going back and forth. And when you finish it just goes together like that to show that we are finished. "
