" Hi! My name is Ann and I am here to talk to you about getting ready for school. What does that mean. Well, to make things easier for your child, you know it is real tough to start school, to leave home and go into a situation where you do not know a lot or you do not know a lot of people. You can make it easier by doing various things. For example, you could go and visit the school. Do a school tour. Go over the different people that are at the school and say hey! Mike, Jimmy who is the principal, what is the name of the principal of the school, who is going to be your teacher, what is her name, going to the library at the school and visiting the school library and spending a little bit of time there just to feel that you are part of the school, that you are familiar with what is going on. Perhaps you know, first time at school, you here that school bell that might spook someone. Again if you spend a little bit of time with your child hand in hand going to the various locations, the school office, the school nurse. These are all important people that your child should know and when he starts school or she starts school, it will be a snap, because they will feel that they are part of that school community. Thank you so much."
