Series Summary

Thinking of updating the sound system in your vehicle? Cassettes are totally awesome, but now that you don’t have the time or energy to rummage through boxes of old tapes at your local garage sale, it might be time to consider installing some new audio equipment in your car. Depending on the replacement model stereo you choose, you might finally be able to play a CD, or possibly even impress your work friends as you play your i-pod on the way to lunch.

In this series of free videos, you’ll get step-by-step instructions on how to replace your old car radio. Expert Jon Olson takes you through the entire installation process, from removing the old stereo, speakers and covers, to installing and wiring your new system. The installation process is fairly simple and makes a great do-it-yourself project. Your old vehicle will sound better than ever, especially now that you can rock the digitally remastered reissue of Boston’s debut release.

Video Transcript

" Hi! This is John on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I will be taking you through step 1 in the procedure for installing a car stereo. Before we install our new stereo, we need to remove our old stereo and the first step in that is to remove the face plate that is covering up our old stereo. On this particular car you would just pull on the face plates and the remaining plates will pop loose. Once you have removed the face plate, you now have access to your old radio. As we take a look at these retaining clips, you will notice that they are similar just to a small spring that is holding the face plate on. In some cases, you might need to get a screwdriver pry it in there to help release these retaining clips. "
