"Hi! My name is Eric. On behalf of expertvillage.com, I’m here to talk to you today about resetting your 1st-3rd generation iPods. The two iPods I have in front of me are 2nd generation and a 3rd generation dock connector. These two units have identical reset procedures like I just talked about with the click wheels. For instance, what you would do with your 2nd generation unit is you would go through; make sure that your iPod is not on hold by making sure that’s it white around the button. Flick it so that it’s red around the button that’s on hold, and then turn it back off, simply toggling on and off in this case. What you would then do is go through and hold in both the menu and the play/pause keys together. Once you hold these in for about 6-8 seconds, your iPod will reset and display and apple. The reset on this unit should take about 15-20 seconds, where it will come back up to it’s regular menu display. It’ll therefore also have it’s actual volume reduced to half and all of it’s memory would be cleared, as far as the current track that you were on; it’ll return to the top of the main menu. Your iPod 3rd generation unit is rather similar. All you simply have to do in this case is toggle your metal hold switch on. So it’s on hold and then back off, back to white, and hold in the two center buttons: the menu and play/pause. This unit goes and resets through the very same similar process and has the same characteristics after it’s restart. This will clear up most of your problems with your iPods. For instance, in a situation where your iPod goes and freezes, you’re unable to move on to the next track, or you’re having issues with your touch wheel where you can’t simply go through and change the volume. On behalf of expertvilllage.com, my name is Eric. Have a good day."
