This was a rumor started long ago by salesmen simply trying to push extended warranties. Not that extended warranties are bad but you should never lie to a customer to get them to buy an extended warranty. If you want an extended warranty to cover your plasma to make sure it works correctly, not just to mooch a little bit of money out of your average consumer."
