"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village I am going to show you how to easily carve your Thanksgiving Day turkey. Now I would like to talk to you about the importance of a good knife when you're going to be carving your turkey. Now there are various different types of knives that you might want to use. I would definitely not recommend using a small knife. Even if it is the only knife you have you should probably go and buy a bigger one. Having a larger knife will come in handy for various different things but having a knife this small when you are trying to cut through the larger bones of a turkey just isn't going to cut it. Another choice you might have would be a chef's knife. Now this will work if you don't have anything else. Notice it is big enough so you are not going to have any problems slicing through the breast meat but it can be a little unruly when you are trying to maneuver it around the bones so that you can cut through the joints. A proper carving knife is what is going to do the trick best. Now besides just having the proper shaped knife and proper size you also want to make sure that it is a higher quality knife. Why is it important to have a higher quality knife? Because it is something that is going to last longer and cut much better. Most accidents in the kitchen, with cutting, happen when the knife is too dull and you have to press really hard in order for it to cut through what you are trying to cut, so therefore, having a sharper knife is actually safer than having a duller knife."
