Cleaning a Computer Keyboard : Tips for Electronics & Accessories Care

"This is Bobby Hester on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this next clip, we’re going to demonstrate some different techniques for cleaning a keyboard. Two of my favorite products are my electronic wipes and the pressure sprayer. Also, for keyboard, I purchased a toothbrush just for my electronics, so that you can clean the tiny little crevices. We’ll start with this sprayer. The sprayers are great for getting like little hairs, if you have pets, hairs are in the center of the keys, and since that is really down at the bottoms that’s hard to reach with anything else. The spray works great, so you just stick it down in there. Just spray it at all that dust. It just flies out of there. Okay, the next one would be the electronic wipes. These have a slight coating of alcohol on them. Both these products are flammable also so you need to be aware of that. Don’t have an open flame or cigarette or anything around it when you are using these. The wipes are great, they just cut through all the grime and the dust and everything that is on the keyboard. It’s safe; it has properties that make the static stay way down. It will also prevent dust or slow down the collection of dust in the future. The wipes are just great. You just wipe down the whole keyboard, and get in every little crevice and all the dust out. Lets say if there is a piece of dust or something, or that’s a little bit harder that the spray can’t quite reach, or it is too heavy for the spray to get out, I like to use the toothbrush or any kind of brush, as long as with the small brush. It really gets in between the keys and gets all of the junk out from in between the keys. You also need to make sure that you have your keyboard unplugged from the computer when you do this, because of static. Chances of static electricity build up, and you don’t want to be talking on your computer and possibly mess something up while you are trying to clean it. We just work the toothbrush back and forth. Pretty soon, there you have it. You have the clean keyboard once again."
