"Hi! This is Bobby Hester on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this next clip, we’re going to demonstrate how to clean the laser lens on a DVD or CD player. Overtime, dust can collect on the lens and cause the player to not play at its optimum potential, or not play at all. It will tend to skip a lot, and when it reaches that point, it needs to be cleaned. You can purchase a cleaning disc in any electronic store. There are several brands out there, but they all work pretty much the same. This particular model, you’ll see that it has 2 little brushes on the backside of the DVD or CD. Those brushes spin and actually clean the laser lens. What we want to do is, there is an arrow that points in the direction that you need to place the DVD in. You place it in there, close it, and allow it to read. After a few seconds, you’ll hit play and it will start to play the disc. It should stop automatically after about 15-20 seconds. If it doesn’t, then just go and stop it manually. If it doesn’t stop automatically, then just go and hit stop after 15 or 20 seconds. It should be clean now. We will just eject the disc. Those brushes went through and cleaned the laser lens on the DVD player. They recommend that you do this every 8 hours of play. I don’t do mine that often. Probably about once a week, I’ll clean my lens. But you should be aware that you should not use it on gaming systems that use a DVD or optical disc. It can damage gaming systems. This is for DVD players and CD players only."
