"Hi, I'm Cat Tiffin with Expert Village and today I'm going to walk you thru to make a New Years resolution and stick to it. This next one actually includes friends, family support, something similar you can do is leave notes to yourself. I know you're probably rolling your eyes, but invest in some post-its or jot down some daily affirmations for yourself, stick it to the mirror before you go to bed, when you wake up, "hey you're doing a great job", "way to go", "keep it up", they may seem a little silly but repeat it over time, they're going to help build your confidence, they're going to help you feel better and help you a little bit more with what you're doing. Also if you can enlist the help of friends and family in this, a significant other, have an I support group, people that can say "hey you're doing a really really great job" "hey Sarah you're looking great" "hey you've stopped smoking to much" perfect, a boyfriend, a girlfriend a husband a wife a lover, someone else that can tell you over and over how great you're doing, who's going to make it more difficult for you to drink as much, who's not going to let it slide when the apartment is messy, who is going to push you "hey you know what, you want to slip into that size six, you're not there yet keep it up, don't get the burger with extra cheese and the jalapenos, maybe you can opt for a burger with no bun, no fries, some salad." Someone who's going to push you, not make you feel bad but make you more cognizant and aware of the things you're doing that you wanted to change. Now, advise when you go to these people and you say these are the things I want to change about me there are some resolutions that I want to see resolved. I would like to stop doing this, I would like to cut down on doing that. Be prepared for some people not to be so friendly, they might give it to you straight, especially if they love you, and they probably say, " I love you so I can say this to you, you're fat, you're smoking to much, your drinking is way out of control, you're never going to make it into that size six. Be prepared for that, the truth hurts, you know it's also those things that don't come easy, if it's worth it to you then you're also going to make all the sacrifices you need and your friends, family and loved ones hopefully will be there for you, to help you along the way, to help push you in the direction you want to go, when you say to this, now here in the next month especially, I know the holidays are tough anywhere from Thanksgiving to New Years Eve, the average American puts on about fifteen pounds, I'm not going to kid you, it's rough, I'm looking a little pudgy here myself and I guarantee you, come January 2nd I'm hitting the gym, I'm going to be doing different things, I'm getting married in July, so, yes, thank you, I do have goals I want to set for myself as well, so this is actually more for me than it is for you, It's things I need to be doing, that I need to set down on paper, in a calendar so I want to help pass this onto you as well."
