"There are some special things to keep in mind as being female traveler. First of all, go girl. It's really fun. It's such a wonderful time and I like the independence of it all. Do keep in mind, take your own birth control, take your own tampons. They're not readily available if you're going to more remote areas. For safety, if I'm walking in a dark alley at night really, just have a little light. Have perhaps a pocket knife. Keep a fist. What you would do in your normal life. Just always be alert and on guard. A friend of mine told be an umbrella comes in handy for beating off people. Also, the little shower cap. I was just was thinking, for dirty soles of your shoes. Pop it on there and then you can pack that up and you won't get the rest of your clothes dirty. Double duty there. Also, just be extra precautious. You don't want to be wearing wet swimsuits because that's not fun. Yeast infections, urinary tract infections are never a good thing. In general, every thing will be fine. Just be wise."
