Series Summary

During the excitement of planning a trip, people often overlook several basic ways to ease the potential hardships of traveling overseas. By packing light to begin with, you can make the chore of carrying around a backpack a lot easier. By packing items you don’t mind getting rid of after you wear them, you can create extra room for souvenirs to bring back home. Yet you can go too far in cutting corners and end up without crucial supplies on the other side of the world. What you need is a person who has been there and done that to share their experience and knowledge. Travel the Expert Village way and spend more time enjoying the scenery and less time worrying about the basics.

In this series of free travel videos, our budget travel expert shares travel tips learned over the course of several overseas trips. She tells you what to include in your basic first aid kid, how to plan your finances during the trip and how to be as comfortable as possible while you travel with such simple accessories as a slip sheet, an eye mask and a pair of ear plugs. Want to take pictures during your trip? Jacquelyn discusses what type of camera you should bring and how to plan for all of the wonderful shots you will take. Not sure what to include in your luggage? Our expert will share her insights into selecting clothes, shoes and toiletries. She also talks about eating overseas and keeping in touch with the folks back home.
