Advanced Cat's Cradle Trick for Diabolo Juggling

" Hi! I am Adria. I am one of the professional jugglers here at ExpertVillage.com. We are running through a series of diabolo tricks. This one, this trick that we are going to learn on this segment is called cat's cradle. We are going to learn cats cradle the hard way. In the previous segment we learned cat's cradle the easy way. It was a lot of motion, but was all low and it was very quick and it was simple steps. Cat's cradle, the hard way is many fewer steps but they are high throws with more chances of dropping. We are going to go through this slowly step by step and I will drop purposely so you can see each step along the way. Step #1 is to get the diabolo spinning very fast. I don’t have to drop from this one. This is the same whip start that we learned with cats cradle the easy way. Now to start cats cradle the hard way, I am going to begin by throwing the diabolo in the air and using our left arm to put the string over the top of it, up and over the top. We are going to be catching it in a cross like this so let’s start that one again. Are you ready? We get the diabolo going fast. We toss it up using our left arm, we put the string over the top of the diabolo to catch it with our arms crossed, up and catch, now the next thing, we are going to drop again and start again. The next step in cat's cradle, the harder way is to drop again one more time. That is what the final outcome will look like and the way we get that is after we toss it in the air and we catch it, we then take our right handed stick and we put it over our left stick. See that? I am putting it over my left stick and sticking it between the two strings as they are hanging down. Okay, now let us see those two together and then toss it up again and catch in the middle. One more time and this time I will drop the diabolo once it is in the air, the second time I will let it fall, so you can see the cats cradle. You toss, string over underneath and as you can see, there is the cat's cradle, that X is where we catch the diabolo, so now one more time all the way through. Cat's cradle the hard way, toss in the air, string over the top, cross the right around, and catch and that is cat's cradle the hard way."
