Flourishes with Juggling Knives

I’m going to teach you how to flourish, we’re playing with knives so we’re going to learn how to flourish with knives. You can flourish with knives, you can flourish with clubs, you can flourish with burning torches, torches and knives look so much prettier, don’t they look at that isn’t that lovely? A flourish is very simply a way of doing that, you can either start it on purpose or you can do it accidentally, I tend to do it without thinking about it. The proper way to hold a knife is like this, with the blade on the same direction as your index finger, the improper way to hold a knife is like this, with the butt up in the air. If you accidentally catch something like this or if you’re staring like this a flourish you nearly bring the blade up the outside, swing it around, then it goes between your index finger and your middle finger and around the other way. Again up on the inside, between the fingers, up on the outside, again up on the inside, towards your thumb so you’re just swinging your hand up and right when it’s up there, you move your finger so it goes between your index finger and your middle finger and around and you catch it in the proper way to hold a knife, a flourish it’s fun. It can be done with the right hand or the left hand, again we start with the knife being held improperly a lovely little grip, we start swinging it from the outside up to the inside, between the index and the middle finger and around and move the index finger. We can do a kick up into a badly caught knife and flourish it into the proper hold, flourishes can be done in the middle of a pattern, if you catch something incorrectly, if you’re bored while your juggling you can just do a flourish, if you’re in a passing pattern with another person and the other person needs time you can do a flourish. Flourishes can be used in any occasion, I really enjoy doing them with knives because knives have pretty shiny blades that reflect the knife, so the flourishes look unusually pretty."
