How to Repair Rusty Body for Car Restoration

"Hi. I'm Doug. I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we are going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Now Alex is going to pick away at it a little bit; hit it with the hammer and get all the residual dust away like he did in the earlier step. But now, he's cut away more so he can see more. When you examine the piece that was cut off here, you can see that his cut shows nice thick metal. So we don't have to cut away any more of the body work of the car in order to get good solid material. See here where it was rusty, it's real thin. He's cut away to where it's nice and thick. So the body now is sound. He needs to go into the structure of the car and make sure that is sound as well. You can see here that this is a brace for the car. One of the structural members that keeps the car rigid. So, we are going to have to cut in a little bit deeper to get good clean metal on this as well. "
